I am delighted to announce that the new PURLEY KIT is finally ready to unveil. Please find attached the image sheet which shows you either pictures and a description of the finished kit or a photographic example of the style to which our colours are being applied. As soon as we have finished samples of the complete range we will display them in the new building (or Pro-shop). You will also find attached the sales order sheet. HOW IT WORKS 1. Pre-season The order forms will be issued to all club members in the first week in February. The order sheets need to be returned to Ian Glassington via the Sports Club Reception (or posted to his house) by the end of February. These orders will be placed and will be delivered in time for the season start if not sooner. Any orders taken after this date cannot be guaranteed for the season start but will arrive shortly after. 2. Mid-season During the season Ian and assistants will man the Cricket Shop (i.e. the new building) on colts and seniors practice nights. They can take and collate orders. Once a week these orders will be issued to our suppliers who will pledge to deliver within 2 weeks and your items can be picked up at the club shop. 3. Other items We will carry a stock of accessories in the club shop (bat grips, balls, boot spikes etc) that can be purchased on training nights. A full range of other cricket items from bats to pads to boots etc will also be available via the new cricket shop and again can be ordered and delivered as noted above. We have set up an agreement to access the 4. Website Eric and I are redesigning the Website with a new front page and direct links to the Play-Cricket site for results, stats, fixtures etc. It will also allow us to put items of news, match reports and details of social events in a much more dynamic fashion...we can also sell advertising space. A kit window will take us to the order sheet and the club shop.... At the moment you cannot order on line although this will change...we are organising a link between the site, the suppliers and Ian so that he receives copies of orders by email made online to the suppliers and he can thus manage the process remotely. We need to finalise this operation and again I will advise everyone as soon as we are on-line. Please note Ian has currently volunteered to do this but it will really need additional assistance and ideally would be a task that someone does exclusively rather than as yet another task for Ian to do.......volunteers to assist please? 5. About the kit. It should be self explanatory as far as the playing kit is concerned and examples will be available in the club shop shortly. In principle we are keeping the Academy style tracksuits and training kit which everyone likes and the playing shirt from last year which again is excellent and well liked. We are standardising the Purley pink into a cerise/maroon colour to match the latest badge. We are moving to new style sweaters by popular demand of our younger players and those that have to wash the kit...we are introducing a new 'baggy style' Purley hooped cap. We are also introducing a 'casual range' of contemporary items such as fleece tops, polo shirts and ‘v’ necked jumpers with small monogram type badge that is stylish and suitable for wearing out anywhere without it looking like a playing kit.....we think that this will be far more popular for players and spectators alike and allow the wearer to use the items anywhere...i.e. not just when visiting Purley. Finally we have a new tie and cufflinks...a must for our formal dinners etc 6. Team kits and packages The order form allows a team manager or the committee to order team kits with Sponsor’s details. If you order 15 shirts the logo of the sponsor will be applied at no additional cost. Space is available to identify the number of different sized shirts required leading to the total number. The colts and the seniors package allows you to order shirt, tracksuit and training kit and save approximately £8. 7. Colts and Seniors All items are available to seniors and juniors and are identical apart from a couple of the casual items that are not made in junior sizes. The junior shirts etc are cheaper because there is no VAT. Other items such as tracksuits will not carry this discount because of the cost of the unit items which is tight and the quantities which will not sustain a discount. 8. Revenue We have added a small mark up on every item. As a club we do not want to be greedy with this but need to pay for the handling charges and we may have to carry some stock in the short term. Over a season it will also be an invaluable source of much needed revenue for the club. 9. Appearance We are determined that all of our teams will go out looking like Purley teams...not a mix of Old Harovian, Pakistan, Australian Baggy, Caribbean and various schools etc which is what happens at the moment. As we have found when we wear our coloured kit it makes for a better team dynamic and certainly makes us look a much stronger club than we do at the moment. Hope you like it......it has taken a lot of organising and we need to make some refinements but should add a lot in many ways. Cheers Steve Macdonald
